Randy Freking lives in Cincinnati with his wife, and they have four children and 11 grandchildren. He retired at the end of 2020 from Freking Myers & Reul. Randy is no longer associated with the Firm, though he is proud of its continuing work helping working people.
In retirement, Randy serves as a mediator to help people involved in disputes resolve them outside of the courtroom. Randy is Treasurer of the Reds Community Fund and host of an annual party celebrating Opening Day. He volunteers at a variety of non-profits in Cincinnati.
Before retiring, Randy was recognized in every edition of “Best Lawyers in America” since 1994, received “Super Lawyer” designations since its inception, was one of the top 10 vote recipients in Ohio for the designation of “Super Lawyer” in surveys of Ohio lawyers, was recognized by Cincinnati Magazine as one of the most influential lawyers in Cincinnati in October, 2008, and was recognized annually by Cincy Business Magazine as one of Cincinnati’s “Leading Lawyers”.
In 2023, his peers at the Cincinnati Bar Association awarded Randy the distinguished “John P. Kiely Professionalism Award” for legal work over 38 years.
Randy has authored or co-authored five books, two on employment law – “The Real Employee Handbook” (Createspace Self Publishing, 2012); “The ABA Consumer Guide to Employee Rights” (American Bar Association, 2015); “Cincinnati’s 150-Year Opening Day History: The Hoopla Started With A Parade” (Cincinnati Book Publishing, 2018); “@Titanicstruggle; The Best of MARTY BRENNAMAN (Cincinnati Book Publishing, March 2020); “The Big Red Machine’s Last Hurrah” (Bookbaby Publishing, November, 2024) Randy was the host of two Podcasts “Freaking Out About Opening Day” and “Freaking Out About Work”, both available on most podcast apps and ITunes (search Randy Freking). He currently co-hosts the We Love Our Team podcast available on podcast platforms and YouTube.
